“A year from now, you will wish you had started today.” – Karen Lamb
I have a reminder set on my phone that goes off each morning at 9am. All it says is this quote.
I put it in my iPhone about two years ago at a time where I was struggling with motivation and although I knew what I needed to do, I couldn’t seem to find the willpower.
Two years later, I still struggle with motivation. However, there has been several habits that have stuck that I do not regret.
Let’s dive right in!
Health
I am in significantly better shape and better overall health thanks to small diet changes.
I go through phases where I eat sweets every day, over eat or drink too much. But on the whole I look after myself and am very pleased I began healthy diet choices when I did!
Education
Part of the reason I am healthier is because I completed my yoga teacher training. I couldn’t be happier that I finally took some adult education.
It felt so great to have a certificate showcasing my qualification, that I have undertaken a nutritional therapy course too!
Personal Development
Alongside education, I have made an effort to read more, to listen to podcasts and to develop myself as much as possible.
Long gone are the days where I wasted hours reading crappy novels (I’ve actually read every Gossip Girl novel! Who knew they even existed?).
I now can’t stand wasting time. I want to learn so much and there is so much to learn!
Picture one year from now:
- What do you want it to look like?
- What will your health look like?
- Is there something you want to educate yourself in?
- Or a course you want to begin?
Avoid putting something off just because it takes a long time to achieve. Our time will pass anyway, we may as well fill it with something that matters to us. That way, a year from now you can look back and thank yourself for starting when you did.
I challenge you to action something right now that you have been putting off and maybe regret not starting sooner. If you feel unmotivated: remember why you began.
