Welcome back to the final day, Day 7 of Healthy Mind Power Week, 7 days of short inspirational reads to get your day (and month) off to a great start!
“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorns have roses.”- Alphonse Karr
As an individual, imagine you have a certain perception of the way you look, but then you look into a dirty or cracked mirror, you would see a distorted version of yourself. Although it is easy to believe the mirror is accurate, it isn’t actually the truth, it is not portraying the way you really look. It is just a mental impression. We need to remember that and not allow the mind to be convinced. It is easy to be swayed by people and situations into thinking something is negative when in reality it may not be. We get to choose our perception of any situation, is the glass half full or half empty?
In relationships, perception is the cause of a lot of arguments, when two people believe they are 100% correct, and are unable to see that there could be multiple truths. Envision that you are standing at the edge of a cliff face looking down into a gorgeous valley, later you meet up with your friend and say, there is an incredible cliff, you must see it. Your friend says, a cliff? I was walking in that same area and only saw a huge mountain, there’s no cliff, what are you talking about? An argument ensues. An outsider with a broader perspective would see that you’re talking about the same thing, just that one of you was at the top of the mountain, the cliff, and the other was at the base. You are both correct.
The Challenge
Today I challenge you to broaden your perspective, to really try and understand a friend or family members point of view, to accept that there is multiple truths. Also, try to control your individual perception of yourself, remember that what you see is not always the way it is. Choose to believe the glass is half full.

This is fabulous! Simply twist your perspective. Brilliant.
Love the first quote!! I always love and use metaphors involving roses and thorns!
Great post! I love the idea of changing perception. Sometimes we are so stuck in one view only that we can´t see anything else and maybe miss out some really good chances. It´s a good advice to try to see things from different sides.
