We all know that practice makes perfect. But what type of practice? How often do we practice? The key to mastering a skill is firstly creating a DAILY habit to practice the skill, and to be patient and persistant with this habit for LIFE. There is no point in mindless practice either, we must be fully present at the time we are learning our skill otherwise the practice is useless.
The Challenge
Today, I challenge you to begin a daily habit of a skill that you want to master, it could be just 5-10 minutes per day. There are studies that show it takes 28 days to create a habit so make sure you have a reminder to remember your habit. I also challenge you to be fully present during your practice, no phones, no distractions. We must practice mindfully to gain the full benefit of our training.
If there are many skills you wish to master, I suggest only introducing one habit at a time so that you and your mind are not overwhelmed, possibly introduce the second habit next month. We need to be passionate about these skills so the time needed for mastery is a priority in our lives. Each skill is a commitment for life.
